  • Mechanical Reliability Engineer

    Location US-TX-Pasadena
  • Overview

    Leads and directs the maintenance department’s mechanical maintenance and reliability initiatives. Provides technical assistance to the maintenance department and drives long term equipment reliability. Utilizes reliability and lean manufacturing tools to drive continuous reliability improvements.


    • Maintains and analyzes reliability data and drives reliability improvements
    • Conducts failure analysis and supports 5-why process
    • Serves maintenance crafts, operations and projects by assisting with mechanical engineering support
    • Uses RCM principles to establish and optimize proactive maintenance strategies for mechanical equipment
    • Leads mechanical predictive maintenance program
    • Direct and coordinate manufacturing, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
    • Utilize technical drawings, specifications of electrical and mechanical systems and components to ensure systems conform to standards
    • Lead and direct specialty contractors. Act as liaison with engineers, operations, and others to discuss existing or potential reliability improvements
    • Makes recommendations with long term reliability improvements. May include implementation of business processes or driving capital projects




    • 3 + years chemical plant experience
    • Bachelor's Degree of Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
    • Experience in driving continuous improvement



    • 5 + years PSM chemical plant experience
    • RCL, CRE or other certification in maintenance or reliability
    • Experience applying reliability tools (criticality assessment, RCM, TPM, cause mapping, etc.)
    • Experience with mechanical equipment design, troubleshooting, function, and reliability
    • Experience with establishing reliability analytics
    • SAP and Meridium experience



    • Effective leadership skills and the ability to work productively in a cross functional team environment
    • Influencing, negotiating and diplomacy skills
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Ability to effectively solve problems and resolve conflicts
    • Organizational skills and is able to prioritize work, develop appropriate time lines and work to deadlines
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
    • Able to travel as required
    • Skills, software knowledge and/or certifications specific to the industry/function
    • Ability to manage multiple crews at multiple locations
