JOB SUMMARY:

Help to ensure the accuracy of financial statements by developing cost standards, analyzing and reconciling inventories at various third-party locations, and assisting with other aspects of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings. NewMarket Corporation is a leading manufacturer and marketer of performance enhancing fuel and lubricant additives with operations around the world.

• Assist in developing cost standards for inventory
• Ensure accurate quantity and valuation of inventory and cost of sales
• Analyze and settle production order variances
• Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, and various accruals
• Identify and record quarterly adjustments for sales cutoff and unrecorded liabilities
• Respond to appropriate internal and external questions
• Perform internal controls for assigned processes
• Prepare annual operating plan (AOP) for third party locations
• Design and prepare reports to meet various internal requirements
• Reconcile intercompany balances
• Complete special projects as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CPA designation
• Experience with SAP ERP system
• Experience with accounting for a manufacturing entity

• An in-depth understanding of US GAAP and the ability to analyze situations and apply the accounting standards correctly
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
