Administer the North America Compensation program in alignment with the Global Compensation Philosophy.  Manage and maintain the global Job Architecture to support business needs and career progression. Administer retirement benefits including pension and savings plan.  Support the HR Services team by posting payroll entries to SAP and reconciling general ledger accounts.


  • Use appropriate comparative data to establish starting salaries and evaluate promotions and internal equity inquiries for all non-executive positions. Monitor data and initiate changes as necessary to maintain consistency and equity in the compensation system.
  • Conduct annual North America salary forecasting. Monitor annual salary increases for anomalies and consult with appropriate manager to determine resolution. 
  • Complete quarterly salary reviews and salary notification process. Secure approvals for non-forecasted increases.
  • Manage and ensure the integrity of the organizations Job Architecture and job title structure. Assist managers in developing job descriptions to accurately describe the work to be done.  Ensure that descriptions are entered into the job description database.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Wage and Hour laws and proper job classification.
  • Post payroll entries to the general ledger and reconcile general ledger on a monthly basis. Ensure all required transaction and documentation is completed on time and accurately.
  • Responsible for pension administration including monthly processing of retiree pension payments, maintenance of the pension database (eePoint), responding to inquiries and regulatory communications (Annual Funding Notice).
  • Responsible for savings plan administration including non-discrimination testing, responding to participant inquiries and annual communication requirements.
  • Review personnel files of all new-hires for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide support in other areas of HR as needed (e.g. special projects and vacation cover)



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and understanding of applicable wage and hour laws and compensation/benefits policies and procedures typically obtained by working in similar roles of increasing responsibility for more than 8 years.



  • Advanced degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, array formulas, look-ups)
  • Experience with HRIS system reporting
  • CCP, GRP or equivalent certification



  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and concepts of determining the relative value of the job and the appropriate compensation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy

  • Able to take complex data and translate it into a usable and understandable format

  • Able to work with minimum supervision in handling routine tasks and takes initiative as appropriate
  • Able to demonstrate computer literacy with regard to NewMarket's routine applications
  • Must maintain confidentiality of data
