LIMS Systems Analyst

Overview

This position leads system administration activities and provides support to end users to meet needs in the R&D organization.  Typically works across the entire spectrum of technical tools including the Help Desk and project teams.  May provide software training support.

 

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure systems such as commercial-off-the-shelf and in-house
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. 
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards. 
  • Research and recommend automated approaches to system administration tasks. 
  • Identify techniques to leverage existing resources to provide economy of scale. 
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. 
  • Provide Help Desk support - investigate and troubleshoot issues. 
  • Collaborate in creating and executing comprehensive training programs related to applicable software systems. 
  • Maintain process alignment with the NewMarket/Afton corporate IT groups.
  • Work with the BSA in formulating requirements; consults regarding alternatives and the implications of new and/or revised processes.
  • Perform design and analysis for system function requirements; makes presentation of proposed solution.
  • Ensure unit testing is performed and functions per user requirements
  • Perform application configuration to meet written specifications.
  • Accept applications ownership and provide vision for improving systems over time by attending seminars, reviewing recent publications, and maintaining contact with computer organizations.
  • Ensure objectives of application architecture are not jeopardized by effective data management.
  • Continue Professional Development - Complete required training on time
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or other relevant field).
  • 3 years in software administration
  • 3 years' minimum working experience with the following languages and technologies: JavaScript/HTML5; .NET/C#; MS SQL
    • Nice to have: Development in Microsoft Azure Platform, MVC, SQL, and Git
  • 3 years in modern web applications and business applications programming on enterprise platforms and integrations
  • 3 years in systems analysis
  • 3 years coding, debugging, and troubleshooting with a solid understanding of complex relational database structures and data models

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

 

  • 5+ years in software administration, systems analysis, coding, etc.
  • Microsoft Certification
  • Preferred experience with Abbott STARLIMS Laboratory Information Management System
    • Crystal Reports within STARLIMS
      • Write queries, views, or stored procedures to extract data
      • Create and automate or increase the efficiency of existing reports through data consolidation and data analysis
      • Write queries, views or stored procedures to extract data from SQL Server
      • Validate reports to insure accuracy and quality
      • Generate metrics and develop actionable recommendations
      • Support the generation of standard reports as well as ad hoc queries
      • Assist in the planning and implementation of Crystal Report product updates, new Lab report releases and Lab report updates
    • STARLIMS designer & Advanced setup for HTML5
    • STARLIMS advanced analytic builder
    • STARLIMS SDMS
