Sr. Data Engineer

Overview

This data engineering position will require a collaborative leader skilled in building data pipelines, engineering complex data sets and querying databases utilizing tools for structured and unstructured data. Commitment to data integrity, the capability to solve highly analytical problems, and the ability to work on multiple projects at once are critical for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and serve as subject matter expert regarding Cloud for both infrastructure and applications in Microsoft Azure
  • Work with the IT security team with any security-related issues
  • Design, develop, document, and test data pipelines that ingest and store data from structured and unstructured sources within the Azure data platform
  • Lead data delivery initiatives for Microsoft Azure projects
  • Drive improved data reliability, efficiency, and quality through adherence to industry best-practicies and Data Governance policies
  • Partner with multiple stakeholders including clients, new product development, data analysts to develop scalable solutions
  • Support operations by identifying, researching and resolving performance and production issues

Qualifications

          EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related field of study
  • 15+ years of experience working in a Data Engineering role or building and maintaining data solutions
  • 5+ years experience utilizing Python for production-level data development
  • 5+ years experience leading data engineering projects
  • 2+ years hands-on experience working in Azure, including Data Factory, SQL Data Warehouse, Synapse, and Data Lake Storage
  • Experience with data modeling and data design utilizing SDLC methodology

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Masters degree in computer science, software engineering or related field of study
  • Extensive experience managing and optimizing a cloud data lake environment
  • Extensive experience using CI/CD tools to test and deploy code
  • Microsoft Azure Certification (DP-900, DP-203, DP-200, DP-201 or similar)
  • Experience with business analytics tools such as Tableau/Shiny/R
  • Automotive, chemistry/chemical, or petroleum additive related academic background or work experience
