EHS Specialist - Air Permitting

Location US-TX-Pasadena
Health, Safety and Environment



Responsible for implementing and supervising EHS activities while raising employee awareness. Responsible for a specific function or specialized field within EHS.




  • Manage air program (primarily), and support wastewater, and waste management to assure compliance with environmental and safety regulations and to control compliance costs
  • Ensure environmental programs comply with state, federal and local regulations and provide technical expertise in these fields
  • Responsible for the timely preparation, submittal, and maintenance of required records, permits, and reports, in accordance with established guidelines by local, state, and federal agencies and corporate guidelines
  • Support conformance with PSM (Process Safety Management) and RC (Responsible Care) standards
  • Assist plant operations and technical services in process troubleshooting, project reviews, change management, and other areas



  • Demonstrates familiarity with environmental, safety and regulatory disciplines
  • Demonstrates understanding of federal and state laws associated with environmental and safety
  • Experience with TCEQ air permitting, including NSR, PBR, and Title V.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with TCEQ air regulations (VOC, NOx, PM, EI, etc.)
  • Apply strong detailed analytical skills to effectively solve problems
  • Demonstrates excellent written, oral and interpersonal talents, and effective negotiation skills
  • Demonstrates effective computer skills (MS Office suite)
  • Able to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks, prioritize work, develop appropriate timelines, and work to deadlines
  • Demonstrate ability to lead, motivate, and positively influence others
  • Demonstrate strong self-initiative and self-teaching
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Able to tolerate high stress levels
  • Plant process improvement experience is a plus
  • Professional engineering registration is a plus 


  • B.S. Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
  • M.S. degree and/or Certified Safety Professional is a plus


  • Industrial or Chemical Industry Environment Experience – minimum 4 years
  • Environmental/ Regulatory Experience – minimum 4 years
