Overview

This position is based in Singapore and is responsible for leading and supervising the Singapore team and overseeing the full spectrum of accounting, reporting, tax and controlling functions for Afton Singapore.   Afton Singapore is the Asia Pacific headquarter and its operation encompasses manufacturing activities in Singapore and sales activities in ASEAN countries, South Korea and P. R. China (USD customers).   The Singapore team of four is situated in two locations - Visioncrest office and Jurong island plant.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the team of four to deliver timely and highly accurate accounting and reporting of Afton Singapore operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed asset accounting, inventory & parts accounting, general ledger close, as well as the plant accounting of the manufacturing operations.
  2. Drive active balance sheet reconciliation and analytical review to ensure validity and integrity of financial information, while providing insightful analysis relating to key business activitiess and performance.
  3. Define and monitor accounting process and related activities to enable effective internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  4. Organize the process and resource to ensure compliance for audit, income tax, indirect taxes, transfer pricing and other statutory compliance.
  5. Analyze and manage cash movement, loan and related transactions to ensure viable cash flow for ongoing activities.
  6. Support cost statements preparation and simulation for Free Trade Agreement trade in goods qualification.
  7. Key user and process owner for SAP FI/CO module, with leading role in user testing for system implementation and upgrade.
  8. Provide accounting related support to the business teams in areas such as goods related movement, volume rebate, business development fund or customer tender preparation.
  9. Participate in project, within finance or cross-functionally or regionally, to support business transformation, to orchestrate continuous process improvement, drive standardization, leverage on best practices or control management.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent and a recognized professional accounting qualification
  • At least 10 years of working experience in public accounting and related accounting area, with preferably 8 years in handling full set of accounts and experience in team management
  • Professional working and up-to-date knowledge of US GAAP (General accepted accounting principles) and Singapore FRS (Financial reporting standards)
  • Well-versed in SAP ERP system and MS Office (especially MS Excel)
  • Prior working experience in multinational environment within a chemical or goods trading and manufacturing industry is relevant.

  • Strong analytical skill and organizational ability to leverage on different resources to resolve complex accounting, system and process issues.
  • Team player across levels, functions and locations in a matrix organization cum multinational environment with effective communications skills
  • Active engagement with stakeholders (including third party service provider) to drive positive outcomes and able to influence without authority
  • Effective delegation of work including remote team management and yet maintain attention to details for relevant areas in order to drive overall success
  • Good team management with empathy, as well as to motivate, empower and develop the team.
