Overview

Ensure that adequate inventories are available to meet customer needs and that required SAP data is entered for all off site toll manufacturers, distribution terminals and warehouses. Typically works under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the ordering process and reconcile schedules based on changes in orders or forecasts. Release requisitions to toll manufacturers as appropriate and monitor production vs. order information.

  • Review invoices for bulk shipments to/from storage and/or drumming at terminals and warehouses to ensure accuracy against contract specifications. Review and enter into SAP all shipping/receiving data associated with materials movement to/from our toll manufacturers, warehouses or distribution sites.

  • Monitor delivery due list, stock requirement list and stock overview listing; expedite transportation movements accordingly to ensure that adequate inventories are available to meet customer needs. Ensure documentation and general record keeping is completed timely and accurately.

  • Consult with toll manufacturers and (warehouse/terminal as appropriate) personnel to determine status of needed materials and determine availability dates.

  • Communicate handling instructions as necessary, request labels and consult with warehouse, terminal and toll manufacturing dispatcher's to arrange for tank cars and/or truck deliveries between Afton and warehouse, terminal and tolling sites.

  • Write purchase orders for finished goods from Afton affiliates; monitor delivery, review invoicing and approve for payment, enter data in SAP inventory screens and close out completed orders as appropriate.

  • Maintain (in SAP) overall inventory record for specified sites that accurately reflect material to material transfers, materials received and shipped, etc. Reconcile/balance inventories quarterly, complete the physical inventory document and forward to accounting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years relevant work experience

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • BS/BA degree (logistics, accounting/finance, business administration or related field)
  • Inventory and/or transportation experience
  • Some experience using SAP

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate a basic knowledge of inventory management and supply planning
  • Demonstrate familiarity with warehousing and distribution site practices and procedures
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Able to cope with multiple work interruptions and maintain focus on details
  • Able to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Able to organize and prioritize work effectively, develop appropriate time lines, and work to deadlines
  • Demonstrate adequate computer literacy with regard to Afton's routine computer applications
  • Demonstrate initiative and able to work with only moderate direct supervision

  • Demonstrate the ability to think through problem situations and develop reasonable resolution
  • Able to interact effectively with all levels of personnel internally and externally
