Field Trial Engineer

Location CN-Suzhou

Overview

Apply engineering techniques to ensure quality operation of mature tests, and plan, design and/or build new tests in support of the development and validation of new and existing products.  Performs assigned projects under the direction of a senior R&D team member

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop engine or mechanical tests that produce performance data to meet the objectives of internal/external customer programs.
  • Develop creative new test approaches to demonstrate product performance. Write clear test specification for all testing and agree with customers on the deliverables.
  • Improve quality and repeatability of testing.
  • Manage multiple vehicle field trial projects.
  • Prepare written technical reports and make oral presentations internally and externally as necessary.
  • Act as a technical resource for the AP technical and commercial team
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Afton’s technology, customer needs, market trends, and industry direction
  • Comply with all ISO and quality system requirements with an emphasis on continuous improvement
  • Maintain productive relationships with team members and both internal and external customers

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant technical degrees
  • More than four years of experience in the automotive industry or tier 1 supplier
  • Fluent in English and Chinese, oral and written

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to run projects with minimal supervision
  • Automotive transmission and axle gear design experience
  • Experience with the design and execution of custom testing with engines, vehicles, and exhaust emissions systems at the component or system level
  • Advanced knowledge of SI and CI powertrains, electronic engine control, and related systems
  • Data analysis and basic statistical evaluation experience, including design of experiments
  • Knowledge of automotive related chemistry
  • Familiarity with API and ACEA requirements, and ACC Codes
  • Photography and retouching in Photoshop

TRAVEL:

  • Ability to travel internationally (no visa problems)
  • Willing to travel 25% of time
