Tax Supervisor

Location US-VA-Richmond

The Tax Supervisor will support the Global Tax Department and the Company by leading a team of experienced tax professionals in a multinational, public corporation headquartered in the Richmond, Virginia. The Tax Supervisor will be responsible for domestic income, sales & use, property, and excise tax compliance and accounting for income taxes for the U.S. consolidated group.


  • Work closely with Senior Tax Manager in completing all federal, state and local compliance and accounting requirements with timely and accurate information.
  • Responsible for managing the preparation of consolidated Form 1120 with complex tax matters. Experience with US international tax matters, such as GILTI, FDII, and 5471s, is preferred but not required.
  • Responsible for managing the preparation of approximately 40 state tax returns.
  • Responsible for managing the filing of annual reports, sales & use, property, excise, and fuel tax returns.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and tax accounting changes.
  • Responsible for leading and developing team of 3-4 experienced tax professionals, including assigning work, setting deadlines, following up regularly on progress and providing formal and informal feedback.
  • Manage all federal and state income, sales & use, property and excise tax examinations.
  • Work closely with Fixed Asset accountant in maintaining accurate tax depreciation computations.
  • Work closely with the Senior Tax Manager to manage the quarterly audits and tax control audits.
  • Responsible for adhering to the established tax controls throughout the quarterly tax provision process and the tax compliance process.
  • Provide support for a variety of special projects, as needed, including restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and IT initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies, including identification of tax incentives and additional utilization of technology to streamline activities.
  • Develop relationships with peers in the U.K., Brazil, and Singapore, working closely together and knowledge-sharing on tax and accounting matters.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Master’s Degree preferred
  • CPA, preferred
  • 8+ years corporate tax experience required, with supervision experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of federal and state corporate income tax laws, as well as experience with multinational corporations.
  • Experience with automated accounting systems and tax return compliance software (OneSource preferred)
