Operations Team Leader (Day)

Location SG-Singapore

Overview

Support manufacturing production by providing operations expertise and executing according to the established production specifications, schedules and targets while in compliance with safety, quality and environment standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Supports Operations Manager in daily production activities to meet production schedules, EHS, quality and cost target. Ensures that ALL in the plant abide the safety rules and regulations. Plays an active role in maintaining and improving the safety system.
  2. Ensures safety policies and procedures are followed and promptly report any accident, near misses, minor injury, equipment/material damage, chemical spill, etc.
  3. Provides support to daily safety toolbox discussions and conduct safety observations and job safety analysis. Supports the management of cost associated with operations to ensure that production Yields/Utility usages and operations overtimes are consistent with establish standards.
  4. Monitors process parameters, conditions and trends as well as environmental pollution control devices and safety devices to ensure that the process units are being operated within limits as specified in DCS, operating procedures, process design and the relevant laws and regulations.
  5. Analyzes and troubleshoots process problems and assist in developing and implementing product and process improvement plans. Develops, maintains and updates procedures and risk assessments for Operations Department.
  6. Issues maintenance work notifications through SAP to maintain and repair process equipment.  Coordinate with shift personnel and maintenance to ensure that the planning, prioritization and execution of maintenance repair work and shut down maintenance to meet production objectives.
  7. Provide supports to project work to ensure the work is carried out safely and efficiently in the plant.
  8. Maintains discipline in the day operations technicians and if necessary, cascade disciplinary cases to Operations Manager and HR. Ensures that coaching & development activities are occurring with all direct reports. Provides & puts in-place necessary training programs for operations personnel to ensure continuous capability development.
  9. Work with shift supervisors and shift teams to create cohesiveness and a positive work environment. Mediates and resolve conflicts in a fair manner.
  10. Develops training materials and conducts trainings for the operations personnel.   

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma in Chemical Engineering and at least 10 years of plant experience in a Chemical / Petrochemical industry
  • Able to interpret and understand piping and instrumentation diagrams, and cause and effect diagrams
  • Good communication and writing skills and able to interface with people from all levels and functions.
  • Able to make decisions and work under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, SAP and general computer knowledge
  • Good leadership skills. Must possess the maturity, tact and personal stature to successfully interface with others throughout all level of the organization.
