SUMMARY:

Work as a member of the corporate accounting team responsible for the timely and accurate closing of the NewMarket corporate books within the SAP ERP system.  Analyze and reconcile accounts to ensure the accuracy of NewMarket’s general ledger and compliance with US GAAP.  Work closely with the operating subsidiaries to account for inter-entity transactions.  Prepare monthly reporting for NewMarket management and assist the External Reporting team in preparing external reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist in the closing of the books for NewMarket Corporation and several subsidiaries
• Prepare journal entries and enter into the SAP ERP system
• Maintain the SAP general ledger for several NewMarket companies
• Design and prepare reports to meet various internal requirements
• Perform account analyses and reconciliations
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of US GAAP and ensure that NewMarket corporate books are fully in compliance
• Prepare and submit required governmental (non-SEC) reports
• Complete special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience
• Experience with SAP ERP software accounting system and Microsoft Office software

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or candidate working towards a CPA
• Experience with accounting for a manufacturing concern
• Experience in dealing with accounting for global operations including multiple currencies

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

• An in-depth understanding of US GAAP and the ability to analyze situations and apply the accounting standards correctly
• Self-motivated with personal initiative and the ability to work with minimal guidance
• Effective leadership skills and the ability to function effectively in a team environment

• Able to cope with multiple work interruptions and to maintain focus on details
• Able to set appropriate priorities and to organize efforts to meet required deadlines

• Able to work overtime, as required
