Lab Technician

Location SG-Singapore

Overview

Based on established guidelines and procedures, perform routine laboratory procedures to test the quality of raw material, in-process and finished products. Perform maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment to ensure good working condition. Relies on his experience and judgment to plan, strategize and accomplish goals on time.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory test accurately using established procedures and/or enter the test result accurately into database(s). Interpret and advise on the significance of test results.
  • Guide and train the juniors to perform equipment troubleshooting or solve analytical methodology issues.
  • Report and communicate the test result to appropriate parties with minimum delay.
  • Assist in carrying out the chemical reaction using lab scale reactor.
  • Assist in development, modification and validation of tests as needed.
  • Writing and revising instruction or procedures.
  • Responsible for the assigned analytical methods and instruments and ensure their readiness for testing at all times, which include taking care of the reference standard, spare parts, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Liaise with 3rd party lab pertaining to outsourced test and insure successful tracking of the scheduled testing.
  • Coordinate maintenance work and ensure preparation work is done (risk assessment & permit).
  • Purchase and maintain adequate inventory of lab supplies. Maintain work area in a neat, clean, and safe condition.
  • Facilitate lab non-conformance investigation of quality and safety incidents.
  • Arrange the collection of lab waste and perform E-tracking for lab waste collected.
  • Broaden own skills or technical expertise through training, seminars and etc. to support required activity.
  • Be part of the lab risk management team to conduct or review risk assessments
  • Be the part of the Emergency Response Team as a qualified first aider.
  • May represent Afton with customers, industry organizations at the direction of the manager and may train other personnel as necessary.
  • Participate in ISO related activities, maintain complete ISO documentation and ensure the documentation is audit ready.
  • Handling ad-hoc task as assigned from time to time

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum diploma in chemical process or related disciplines
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a chemical laboratory.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Meticulous, systematic and possesses basic knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures, laboratory terminology and basic equipment use.
  • Hands-on experience of ICP, GC, FTIR, auto-titrator, physical properties analyzer and etc.
  • Computer literate and have effective oral and written communication skills.
