Overview

Afton Chemical Corporation develops and manufactures petroleum additives that help fuels burn cleaner and more efficiently, engines run smoother, and machines last longer. Candidate must work effectively in a manufacturing environment within a team. Creative problem solving and troubleshooting skills as well as excellent communication skills are required.  

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances for new and modified processes
  • Develop project scopes for small and large capital projects
  • Specify new process equipment
  • Work with equipment vendors and Operations to aide in selection
  • Responsible for process manufacturing processes and bringing in state of the art process technologies to improve product quality and lower manufacturing costs
  • Develop new plant designs for debottlenecking existing sites and greenfield expansions
  • Work with the Plant Operations teams to provide technical expertise and support for resolving operational issues
  • Provide technical coverage for plant trials and startups
  • Write and train chemical operators on operating procedures for new processes and equipment
  • Interface with R&D with regard to process development and process improvements
  • Develop safety procedures to be employed by workers operating equipment.  Lead or be a member of PPA (potential problem analysis), JSA (job safety analysis) and PHAs (process hazard analysis) teams
  • Ability to travel up to 15 – 20% (Port Arthur or San Juan Del Rio)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 10 years in plant or engineering environment (Process Engineering, Technical Services, etc.)
