Overview

The IT Generalist role will provide a wide range of support and customer service on various hardware and software issues in a chemical manufacturing environment.

 

Responsible for all local IT leadership and service.  Provide hands on services and support while managing another IT onsite supporter. Must be adaptable to changing priorities, processes and projects while maintaining excellence in day-to-day activities.  Must possess the ability to process knowledge quickly and put to practical use.  Will interact as a conduit between business activities and IT leadership.  Will work to align, document, and improve processes. Must be able to work independently to problem solve and manage escalations.

Responsibilities

Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing facility and maintain a safety-first mentality on every task.  Strong knowledge and support of PC hardware and software while maintaining SLA’s

 

  • PC internals and peripheral devices
  • Imaging and remote access concepts
  • Microsoft Office and related software
  • Database and various application exposure
  • Working knowledge of VMware 

Thorough working knowledge of all aspects of Microsoft TCP/IP network environment to include but is not limited to

 

  • Windows Operating Systems and networking
  • Network cabling, design, and connectivity
  • Server setup, configuration, and maintenance
  • Work in a team environment to maintain communications to the LAN/WAN team 

Working knowledge of computer security and proactively support the corporate IT security initiatives. 

 

  • Anti-virus software related tools
  • Global Policy
  • Server and data backups

Technical resource to plant personnel in regard to enhancing current systems and formulation of future projects, their supervision and cost management.

 

  • May include vendor or consultant negotiation
  • Solution research and recommendation
  • Cost analysis
  • Training

Working knowledge of

 

  • Cisco IP phone equipment and connectivity
  • Camera and scan card access systems
  • Barcode Systems

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Relevant professional certifications
  • 8 years Information Technology experience demonstrating progressive levels of responsibility
  • 2 years in engineering and/or leadership role
  • Thorough knowledge of ALL aspects of a computer network environment

  • Ability to physically maneuver while providing support that may require crawling, climbing or walking long distance in plant environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel 25% - to Port Arthur, TX
  • Willingness to be on call and travel to the plant after hours, as required.
