Overview

Supervisor has overall responsibility for the performance and continuity of supply from manufacturing areas.  Responsible for safety, quality, management of change, discipline, and operating budget. 

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise subordinates, complete employee evaluations and plan and arrange for development and training. Resolve employee problems and discipline issues. 
  • Consult daily with operations area personnel to discuss and define operational issues.
  • Determine priorities for the area with regard to resources.
  • Develop goals and objectives for the area and monitor progress.
  • Develop area and unit specific annual budgets. Monitor cost activity and variances.  Compile monthly cost review reports and review with plant staff
  • Attend meetings for the operations manager in absence when needed. Cover the unit supervisor responsibilities during the absence of unit supervisor.
  • Lead initiatives associated with safety, environmental and VPP. Monitor and track activities in these areas and insure appropriate resources are available. Investigate all safety incidents for root cause and determine appropriate follow up actions to be taken. 
  • Lead initiatives involving quality, reduction of process variation and improvement of process capabilities in the Area.
  • Consult with Human Resources and department heads to assist in the resolution of union issues and concerns. Actively participate in grievance discussions.
  • Develop and implement detailed plans for introduction of new production into operating units to insure success of operations. Work with logistics and maintenance in the planning of unit turnarounds.
  • Review and approve TMPs, MCRs, and all raw material specifications to ensure accuracy and appropriate documentation. Rewrite all Standard Manufacturing Procedures manuals on a periodic basis to insure proper documentation of manufacturing guidelines. 
  • Review capital projects for safety and operability. Issue Process Change Forms to insure documentation of all changes in the area and follow up to insure closure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BS degree preferred - Chemical Engineering preferred (other engineering degrees such as Mechanical or Electrical will be accepted).
  • Petrochemical experience preferred.
  • 5 + years manufacturing plant experience.
  • Experience in plant operations, including quality control, project engineering, process control, production planning and scheduling.
