About Us

Responsible for supporting the process development and commercialization of new products by producing scaled-up batches of blends and components in the pilot plant. Also responsible for producing drum quantities of commercial components when required.

Responsibilities

  • From R&D and Process Development bench scale studies prepare and order pilot plant equipment to simulate plant process conditions in support of the commercialization of new products.
  • Implement and support Afton methodology in the pilot plant for delivering R&D technologies to the internal or external customer with a focus on PSM (process safety management), customer satisfaction, process robustness and product quality.
  • Schedule and coordinate pilot plant trials with the Process Development SBU Specialists.
  • Lead the pilot plant JSA (job safety analysis) team.
  • Schedule personnel, raw materials and shipment of finished goods.
  • Provide leadership in matters of safety, taking personal responsibility for a safe working environment and for following and promoting established safety policies and procedures in the pilot plant.
  • Document the pilot plant schedule and process work on the Process Development SharePoint site.
  • Assure ISO documentation is maintained on all pilot plant activities.
  • Assume responsibility for the maintenance and trouble shooting of the pilot plant equipment and/or instrumentation.
  • Provide training for chemical operators whenever they are required for production of commercial material or needed to provide two people for batch production.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

  • Working experience in a lab process development or plant related role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong safety/environmental commitment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of staff in a variety of functions.
  • Experience working with wage roll employees is a plus.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  

  • BS in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent in experience preferred
