Overview

To provide technical support for existing products and process as well as evaluating proposed changes to specifications and processes.  Changes are evaluated by analyzing historical data and setting up, running, documenting, and reporting on process studies run on a laboratory scale.

Responsibilities

Key Duties:

  • Assesses quality performance using statistical and analytical methods.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing and summarizing data and making recommendations.
  • Leads production teams in failure analysis and corrective action investigations.
  • Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical areas of production.
  • Simulate plant process conditions in the laboratory to determine optimum process conditions to improve product quality, process yield, process cycle time, and raw material utilizations and to evaluate alternate raw materials.
  • Develop and document process improvements/changes to MPs or BPs with Manufacturing Change Requests or Process Amendments.
  • Develop and document work-off/blend-off procedures for non-conforming and/or obsolete products to ensure product quality is not affected.
  • Provide technical support to Customer Technical Services, Sales, and Marketing to identify cause and develop resolution to customer complaints on the highest priority.
  • Responsible for safety, quality improvement, retention of ISO-9001 certification, time and scheduling, good housekeeping and work relationships with others.
  • Interface and provide input to Operations/R&D/Process Development on new products and processes.
  • Utilize statistical techniques and software to evaluate changes to product specifications and to interpret historical production data as well as results of laboratory studies.
  • Utilize process monitoring tools (manufacturing trends and process overview) and batch/process data reports in product quality investigations
  • Meet with Operations and Process Engineers on a regular basis to ensure product quality.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering.
  • Petroleum additive process chemistry preferred.
  • Familiar with manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, customers and top management.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be willing to travel 20-25% of the time.

Pay Range:  $77,400 - $117,000
