ABOUT US:

JOB SUMMARY:   

Conducts research, development, and/or performance testing activities for the Interfacial Performance group.  Performs assigned projects under the direction or supervision of a senior R&D team member or leader and is often an entry level position.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs basic formulation, test development and design, and/or testing activities to meet established project objectives. Familiarity and use of the Afton Product Development Process as appropriate.
  2. Develops and performs standardized test methodologies for studying surfactant behavior at interfaces.
  3. Completes preliminary evaluations of data and consults with senior R&D team member or leader regarding results, chemistry/component viability and necessary characterizations. Completes special projects as assigned.
  4. Participates in technical and/or project reviews and presents findings as appropriates. Engages with assigned teams and cross-functional stakeholders, such as business, process, marketing, etc…
  5. Maintain accurate, up-to-date lab notebooks in accordance with established procedures. Ensure objectivity and accuracy in reporting and recording data.
  6. Understand, comply, and promote safe laboratory and work practices, including appropriate safety regulations and procedures.
  7. Assure that complete documentation is maintained on ISO or Quality System related activities. Participate in Quality System related activities and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the Quality System function & responsibilities

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

           

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry (or other relevant science field)

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • 1-3 years relevant working experience

  • Basic computer literacy (i.e. Microsoft Office, Word, Excel)
  • Basic MATLAB proficiency
  • Sufficient knowledge of basic thermodynamics and organic chemistry
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of safe lab practices and procedures
